401(k) Savings Plan
The 401(k) Savings Plan Helps You Prepare Financially for Your Future
The 401(k) Savings Plan, serviced by Fidelity Investments,® is a long-term savings vehicle for retirement. Your union’s negotiated collective bargaining agreement (CBA) determines whether you’re eligible to participate, and whether you’re eligible for Company contributions to your account.
To access detailed information about your 401(k) Savings Plan, log in to your account on the NetBenefits website. It’s here that you can make your contribution and investment elections, check your account balance throughout the year, and designate your beneficiary(ies). Be sure to keep your named beneficiaries up to date.
Automatic enrollment
- If you don’t make an active contribution election within 30 days of your eligibility date, you’ll automatically be enrolled at a 2% before-tax employee contribution rate.
- The 401(k) Savings Plan’s default investment fund will apply to your contributions (as well as to any Company contributions you may be eligible for as negotiated into your CBA).
- Depending on your negotiated CBA, your contributions may increase by a percentage amount each April 1, until your before-tax contribution rate reaches a percentage—as negotiated into your CBA (this automatic increase is also referred to as auto escalation). Please see your 401(k) Savings Plan account information on the NetBenefits website to confirm whether the automatic increase feature is appliable to you (you can opt out of auto escalation at any time).
- Increase or decrease your contribution rate; and/or change your investment elections via the NetBenefits website at any time.
The 401(k) Savings Plan is intended to be a participant-directed plan as described in Section 404(c) of ERISA, which means that fiduciaries of the 401(k) Savings Plan are ordinarily relieved of liability for any losses that are the direct and necessary result of investment instructions given by a participant or beneficiary.
